The Ministry of Environmental Protection is monitoring pollution of the lakes in Malaya Subbotikha.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region has confirmed pollution of the Prudovye Lakes near the village of Malaya Subbotikha. The agency said this after reports appeared on social media about a possible discharge of waste into the water body.
As early as July, the ministry had received complaints from citizens with similar allegations. Inspectors promptly surveyed the area and took water samples from the stream, the Prudovye Lakes themselves, and the Nikulchinka River. Tests confirmed that pollutant levels exceeded regulatory limits.
Because the enterprise allegedly linked to the pollution is subject to federal environmental oversight, all materials have been forwarded to the West Ural Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor. An unscheduled inspection has been carried out there, and decisions are being made on response measures, including a possible assessment of environmental damage.
The ministry plans to hold a meeting shortly with representatives of the enterprise and Rosprirodnadzor to discuss the causes and ways to remedy the violations.
