A rare disease called "moyamoya" was diagnosed at the regional hospital.

Doctors at the Kirov Regional Clinical Hospital identified a rare cerebral vascular disease in a young man — moyamoya disease. This condition leads to progressive narrowing of the carotid arteries and can cause stroke at a young age.

Medical staff noted an unusual course of the disease in the patient, who was admitted to the Regional Vascular Center after a sudden attack. Examination showed symmetrical narrowing of the carotid arteries, which raised suspicion of a rare disease. Computed tomography angiography and subsequent examinations confirmed the diagnosis.

To clarify the patient’s condition, a telemedicine consultation was held with specialists from the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnologies of the FMBA of Russia. The experts confirmed the findings of the Kirov doctors and recommended surgery. The surgical intervention was successful; the patient is now under specialist supervision. He has had no recurrent cerebrovascular events.
