"Invest in education": the Minister of Construction of the Kirov Region shared the secrets of his craft with students at VyatGU.
As part of the "Share Your Knowledge" campaign, on September 29 Minister of Construction of the Kirov Region Mikhail Skokov spoke to students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Vyatka State University (VyatGU). He dedicated his lecture to the topic of transformation in the construction industry.
Today the construction industry is undergoing large-scale changes driven by new technologies, economic conditions, environmental standards and social needs.
In 2025 the construction complex of the Kirov Region brought together 2,260 enterprises in the building materials and construction industries, employing about 29,000 people. Mikhail Skokov noted that in order to provide high-quality services to the public and businesses the construction sector is striving for digital maturity:
"We are completely moving away from paper to a digital format. This will ensure transparency in the interaction of all participants in the construction process, maximum consistency of actions and instant access to a complete volume of reliable information about each capital construction project and about the situation in the region as a whole." Mikhail Vladimirovich introduced the students to the information system for managing projects of a state (municipal) customer in the field of construction (ISUP), an innovative tool that allows all participants in the process to exchange data, store it and perform analysis. According to the Ministry of Construction of Russia, the Kirov Region is among the top twenty in terms of effectiveness in implementing ISUP.
"Our region became the first and only one to fully test an end-to-end digital process for the circulation of documentation from design to expertise through an integrated system," the speaker noted.
Mikhail Vladimirovich also shared his professional experience with future builders, emphasizing the competencies of a modern specialist:
"Human resources are a key factor in the successful implementation of a modern solution and in increasing the efficiency of the construction process. By mastering innovative processes, you learn to see not an isolated task but the entire project as a whole, from idea to implementation. This is the craft of the chief engineer, architect, project manager." At the end of the lecture the students received comprehensive answers to their questions and an inspiring send-off from the Minister of Construction of the Kirov Region.
"To be a modern builder means to possess not only outstanding technical skills, but also the knowledge of a lawyer, an economist, an IT specialist and a strategist. The industry is constantly changing. I urge you to be curious, invest in education and become those who speak the language of new technologies," concluded Mikhail Skokov.
