      The Kirov Transport Prosecutor’s Office approved an indictment in a criminal case against three residents of the region. They are accused of smuggling strategically important resources.

      According to the investigation, in 2021–2023 the men submitted forged documents to the customs authorities regarding the origin and transportation of timber. After that, they illegally exported more than 2,000 cubic meters of coniferous sawn timber across the Customs Union border. The value of the resources is estimated at 12.8 million rubles.

      The criminal case has been forwarded to the Kotelnich District Court of the Kirov Region for consideration on the merits.
