Kovaleva and the city Duma deputies went around the school cafeterias.
As the city administration reported, a special questionnaire was developed to assess school meals, into which information about the educational institution, the total number of students and the number of primary school pupils is entered. The form also records whether hygiene rules can be observed, the menu, and pupils' and parents' opinions about the taste of the dishes.
City head Elena Kovaleva visited the canteens of two schools — No. 24 and No. 56 — and also inspected the canteens in two buildings of the Engineering and Railway Lyceum. Kovaleva asked how the feeding process for younger pupils is organized, which dishes they prefer, how the equipment operates, and the quality of the products supplied by the food and social catering enterprise.
The Kirov mayor's office reported that almost every school has a separate menu for students with disabilities and for those with intolerances to certain products. Meals are also available by subscription and via a serving line: students can purchase baked goods and choose from up to six hot dishes — meat or fish with various side dishes.
The city head also spoke with the pupils. Some noted that the food is tasty, but there are also those who leave their meals untouched on their plates.
Recall that today, September 10, it became known that a scandal erupted in Kirs over larvae in school lunches. In one of Kirs's public groups, parents reported that children were served rice in which the children found larvae, presumably moth larvae.
