In Nagorsk, the tenant of a forest plot will pay more than 200,000 rubles for illegal logging.

      The Prosecutor’s Office of Nagorsky District of Kirov Oblast conducted an inspection of the use of a leased plot of forest land on the territory of the Sinegorsky district forestry. During the inspection it was revealed that illegal felling of forest stands had been carried out on the plot, the damage from which exceeded 200,000 rubles.

      As a result of the prosecutor’s inspection, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal felling of forest plantations on a particularly large scale). The unlawful actions, it was established, occurred due to inadequate supervision by the plot’s lessee during timber harvesting.

      The prosecutor filed a suit with the court to recover compensation for the damage caused to the municipal budget. The court granted the claim. The district prosecutor’s office will monitor enforcement of the court decision after it comes into legal force.
