As reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov Region, two local residents — men aged 52 and 40 — died as a result of the fire.
Neighbors noticed the fire and called rescuers. EMERCOM personnel contained the blaze, after which the bodies of the deceased were found in the house.
According to preliminary information, the fire may have been caused by careless handling of fire while smoking.
Investigators are currently conducting an inquiry; forensic medical and fire-technical examinations have been ordered.
The agency reminded residents of the need to observe safety precautions when handling fire.
