The State Labor Inspectorate investigated an injury to a worker at a sawmill in Luza.

The State Labor Inspectorate of the Kirov Region completed an independent investigation into a serious accident that occurred in Luza last winter. The investigation established that on February 11, 2025 a 24‑year‑old worker of the sawmill shop of one of the individual entrepreneurs in the Luza District, while on the enterprise’s premises, slipped on an icy surface while passing by operating equipment, fell and struck his chest on the frame of a machine. As a result of the injuries sustained, the worker’s condition was classified as severe.

“The causes of this accident were violations of occupational safety requirements, namely — inadequate clearing of the premises and failure to ensure control over compliance with occupational safety requirements and the job instructions,” the regional State Labor Inspectorate reported.

The investigation also revealed violations concerning the conduct of a special assessment of working conditions, the carrying out of training and knowledge testing in the prescribed manner, and the development of a list of issued personal protective equipment. As the agency noted, these violations are not the causes of this accident, but indicate non‑compliance with state regulatory requirements in the field of occupational safety.

Following the investigation of the accident involving the sawmill worker, the employer was issued an order to remedy the violations. The individual entrepreneur was held administratively liable.
