In Sovetsk, a 37-year-old man fell for a scam. This was reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It all began when the city resident responded to a job ad on an online marketplace. He was then asked to install a special app that, it later turned out, allowed the criminals to gain remote access to his phone.

After some time, the victim noticed suspicious notifications from microfinance organizations and discovered that his account on the government services website had been hacked. More than 48,000 rubles were withdrawn from the man's bank accounts.

A criminal case was opened on charges of theft and unauthorized access to computer information. The perpetrators are currently being sought.
