According to Kirovstat, the total sown area of agricultural crops in the Kirov Region for the 2025 harvest in farms of all categories decreased by 1.8% compared with 2024. In total, this spring 788 thousand hectares were sown in the region.
The sown area of cereals and grain legumes this year decreased by 1.2% compared with last year and amounted to 304 thousand hectares. Barley and wheat predominate in the sowings of cereals and grain legumes: 37% and 29% respectively of the sown area of cereals and grain legumes. Rye accounts for 15% of the area of cereals and grain legumes, oats — 11%, and grain legumes — 7%.
In the structure of sown areas of agricultural crops in farms of all categories in the Kirov Region, fodder crops occupy 57.7%. Cereals and grain legumes account for 38.6%, industrial crops 2.5%, and potatoes and vegetable-and-melon crops 1.2%.
As noted by Kirovstat, a large share of the sowings of cereals and grain legumes, fodder and industrial crops is accounted for by agricultural organizations — 92%. Potatoes and vegetables in the Kirov Region are mainly grown by household farms — 86% of the total sown area of these crops this year.
