A woman from Kirov lost nearly 300,000 rubles after a call from "fraud protection specialists".

As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kirov Region, an unknown person called a woman via the WhatsApp messenger and convinced her that fraudsters had already gained access to her bank account. To "protect the funds" the pensioner was told to wait for a call from a "specialist."

Soon a man contacted her who introduced himself as an employee acting on behalf of the first interlocutor. He asked her to enable video, open her banking app and place her card against the phone screen, leaving the device on speakerphone.

After some time the fraudster said that "the operations were completed." When the woman from Kirov picked up the phone again, she discovered a withdrawal of 295,000 rubles. Realizing she had been deceived, the woman went to the police. A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds: do not trust calls or messages from unknown people, and especially do not follow their instructions.
