Oleg Valenchuk: My deep bow to everyone who is turning Vyatka into a blossoming garden!
Summer is in full swing, so the flowerbeds are especially beautiful right now. Kirov residents are actively sharing photos and videos, as well as the stories of how their yards have been transformed. One such example is the house at 3 Molodezhnaya Street in the Sosheni sloboda. Svetlana Slautina has lived here for more than 50 years and insists the yard did not always look like this.
“I retired and became the chairperson of the building,” the woman recalls. “I immediately decided to take on landscaping. We repaired the entrances, together with the neighbors we tiled the sidewalks ourselves, and organized a parking area. Then we began to fight the overgrowth near the entrances and plant flowers instead of weeds.”
Now the quiet, cozy courtyard, awash in greenery, has become a true oasis of calm amid the hustle and bustle of the city. It seems that time even flows differently here. A rare passerby who turns down this way will pause for a moment, look around, and will surely be very surprised by what they see.
But the most important thing is the people who not only create this beauty together. They live like one big family. Here, as in a well-known song, people drop in without asking, celebrate birthdays and bid farewell to loved ones with the whole yard.
“One of our young men was leaving to join the army, so we set up tables right in the yard and held a send-off for him,” Svetlana Nikolaevna said.
Beautiful, well-kept front gardens, cozy yards awash in flowers, and interesting ideas for arranging the land around homes delight not only those who live there but also lift the spirits of passersby. That is why the “Let’s Decorate the Motherland with Flowers” contest is a real celebration for the soul and an opportunity to showcase your talents. It is open to everyone who wishes to contribute to the improvement of the urban environment. It doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced gardener or just starting out—your creativity and desire to beautify the world with flowers will be highly appreciated.
Winners will receive well-deserved prizes—vouchers for gardening stores that will help continue the greening and improvement efforts.
“This is not just a competition, but a powerful public movement turning Vyatka into a blooming city, where beauty and comfort are created through joint effort,” emphasizes Oleg Valenchuk. “It is a vivid example of how people together improve their living environment and make life more comfortable. Every Kirov resident can make their contribution to this common cause.”
