In Kirov, the driver responsible for a car accident that killed a woman will be sent to a penal colony.
On the evening of February 3, 2025, a fatal road traffic accident occurred on a stretch of Slobodskoy Trakt in the Pervomaysky District of Kirov. According to the prosecutor’s office, the 47-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt exceeded a safe speed, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Haval car. As a result of the crash, a 39-year-old female passenger of the car died.
The man fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. The court sentenced him to one year of imprisonment in a colony-settlement and also deprived him of the right to drive vehicles for one and a half years.
The sentence was appealed to the Kirov Regional Court, but the appeal left the decision unchanged — it has entered into legal force.
