A virus is spreading in the Kirov region through SMS with the message "Are these your photos?"
A new scam scheme has been recorded in the Kirov region, in which fraudsters simultaneously use SMS and the Telegram messenger. This was reported by the group "Informatotechnology of the Kirov Region."
Potential victims receive an SMS with the alarming message "Are these your photos?" and a link. Clicking on it leads to a Telegram channel where the person is prompted to download a file. In reality, this is malicious software that, once installed, gains access to the contact list and data of the user, and then independently sends similar messages on their behalf.
Fraudsters use psychological pressure tactics — the message arouses anxiety and curiosity, and the text, supposedly sent by an acquaintance, reduces vigilance.
Experts urge Kirov residents to be especially cautious: do not click on suspicious links, do not download files from unknown sources, and pay close attention to the permissions requested by apps. If suspicious activity is detected, it is recommended to report it immediately and take measures to protect data.
