In Kirov, scammers who sold "treatment" devices to pensioners for 2 million will be prosecuted.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region has sent a criminal case to court concerning fraud and attempted fraud committed by an organized group. Three residents of Moscow and Kirov are to stand trial. According to the investigation, under the guise of employees of the "Mir Zdorovya" medical center, they sold elderly residents of Kirov "highly effective medical equipment" and persuaded them to take out loans for the treatment of non-existent illnesses.
As established during the investigation, from June to November 2023, the accused invited citizens—primarily retirees—to free diagnostics at a center on Surikova Street. During the appointment, members of the group informed patients about allegedly detected serious diseases, including cancer, and offered "treatment" through the purchase of thermal emitters and massagers that did not have the claimed effect.
Some victims were persuaded to take out loans. In total, according to the investigation, the scam artists managed to deceive 28 people and stole over 2.1 million rubles.
A car valued at 2 million rubles belonging to one of the accused was arrested to partially compensate for the damage. Additionally, 693,000 rubles and foreign currency were seized from the defendants.
The case materials have been forwarded to the Leninsky District Court of Kirov for consideration on the merits.
