According to the GZhD press service, only healthy domestic animals from categories permitted for long-distance train travel are allowed for transportation. The travel document can be issued at specialized baggage counters.
Throughout the journey, pets are kept in a closed cage or container in the baggage compartment. They have access to water, food, and a litter box. Accompanying documents such as a veterinary passport, pedigree, and other certificates, along with a water bowl, feed, toy, and an absorbent for maintaining proper sanitary and hygienic conditions in the cage are required. Conductors monitor the animals' condition during the trip.
