The advertising of magicians and tarot readers will remain in the public space: the government did not support the ban.

According to "Vedomosti" citing an official government review, the initiative by State Duma deputies to ban advertising for astrologers, magicians, tarot readers, and other representatives of alternative practices was rejected. The proposal involved excluding from the public sphere services not related to religious organizations: rituals, ceremonies, numerology, palmistry, and similar practices. However, the government considered the wording of the draft to be legally vague and not in accordance with the principle of legal certainty. Additionally, the review noted that equating all alternative practices in a single list could lead to "legal imbalance." Some of the categories mentioned do not violate the law or undermine public order. It was also pointed out that potentially dangerous services could be easily disguised under different names to bypass the ban. Deputy Nina Ostanina, co-author of the initiative, stated her intention to revise the bill considering the comments from the relevant Duma committees.
