"Water like from a swamp": residents of Krasnaya Polyana fear using the water supply.
Residents of 14 multi-apartment buildings on Sosnova Street in Krasnaya Polyana have been living without proper water supply for half a year. By decision of the local administration, they were transferred to a new well drilled nearby the pond in January. Since then, the taps have been flowing with murky yellow-gray water with a swampy smell and sand.
According to local residents, the water is somewhat clearer in the mornings, but by evening it becomes turbid and "blooms." "Washing hands — they smell like a swamp. Filling a bath — it’s like being in a pond, not an apartment," people say. Moreover, there are no alternatives for water supply: the store in the village is closed, the mobile shop comes once a week, and there is no bus connection to the center of Krasnaya Polyana.
Authorities explain the situation by the worn-out water pipelines. However, residents are convinced that the cause is drilling the well too close to the pond. The resource supplying organization conducts system flushing from time to time, but this only helps for a few days.
Concerned about the water quality, people have appealed to the People's Front.
"System flushing is scheduled until August 15, but it’s clear that this does not solve the problem. We have sent appeals to Rospotrebnadzor and the prosecutor’s office. It is necessary to determine exactly where the contamination is coming from," commented DPR expert Dmitry Sergeev.

"Water like from a swamp": residents of Krasnaya Polyana fear using the water supply.
In Krasnaya Polyana, murky water with a smell of mud and sand is coming from the tap. Since the houses were connected to the new well, residents have been unable to drink, bathe, or cook with the water. Requests to the authorities have so far yielded no results.
