Kirov veterinarians saved Oleg after he went missing.
At one of Kirov's veterinary clinics, the owners brought in a cat. Oleg had been a stray for a long time, but his last walk unexpectedly turned into a tragedy. The cat returned home in a serious condition: he was limping, having difficulty breathing, and was deteriorating with each passing minute.
Examination revealed that Oleg had a torn diaphragm (the muscle that separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity), causing the abdominal organs (liver, omentum, and intestines) to protrude into the chest. Additionally, two toes on the cat's right hind paw were dislocated.
The veterinarians performed a complex emergency surgery: they had to open the chest to repair the diaphragm. Afterwards, Oleg was connected to a ventilator until he was able to breathe on his own.
The surgery was successful, and within a few hours in intensive care, the cat began to eat. Oleg is now on the mend.
