Doctors at the regional hospital saved a patient for whom antibiotics were ineffective.

The resuscitation doctors at Kirov Regional Hospital saved a 34-year-old man who developed antibiotic resistance. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit with pneumonia complicated by septic shock. His blood pressure dropped to critical levels, and tests revealed the presence of a microorganism with high resistance to most antibiotics. The situation was worsened by kidney and liver failure, and chances of survival were considered minimal.

During the first two days, the man underwent various procedures to cleanse his blood of bacterial toxins and other harmful particles. Medical staff also selected a combination of powerful “reserve” antibiotics that successfully fought the infection.

After two weeks, the patient's condition stabilized, and he no longer required medication to support his blood pressure. Tests confirmed the absence of infection, and after ten sessions of hemodialysis, his kidneys began functioning independently again. The man was transferred from intensive care to a regular ward for further treatment and recovery.
