MegaFon implemented a new way to purchase gadgets and accessories

For the convenience of residents, interest-free installment payments can now be made directly through the mobile app. Here, you can activate a credit limit for online purchases from the operator's online store — for example, gadgets and SIM cards for them. The limit amount will be up to 149,000 rubles.

Having a limit does not obligate the customer — they will only need to repay the amount spent in the online store. If they decide to use it, they can choose the repayment terms: the installment period can range from 1.5 to 12 months, with a zero percent fee for a repayment period of up to 3 months. The financial service "Mokka" acts as the provider of funds.

"BNPL significantly simplifies life for consumers, and having this option directly in the mobile app will help not only to purchase the desired item right now but also to do so seamlessly: immediately after activating the limit, the customer can switch from our mobile app to MegaFon’s online store," said Farida Akhundova, Head of the Business Unit for Financial Products and Services at MegaFon.

This option allows subscribers to receive a credit limit and use it to pay for orders in MegaFon’s online store — the "MegaLimit" will be displayed in the "Buy Now, Pay Later" section or can be activated in the personal account under the "Finance" section by clicking on a special banner.

In the testing phase, the service will be available to a select group of users based on their interests and timely payment of communication services. In the future, plans include adding the ability to top up the balance using "MegaLimit" as well as transferring money to their bank cards. After the pilot project is completed and analyzed, MegaFon, in collaboration with its financial partner, will consider expanding the option to the entire subscriber base.

The "Buy Now, Pay Later" feature is actively developing both in Russia and worldwide. The Russian BNPL market grew by 1.5 times in 2024 compared to 2023. The trend is driven by the increasing popularity of online shopping, the rapid development of marketplaces, the integration of installment services, and the growing consumer interest in flexible payment options.
