Kirov military-industrial complex enterprises lack workers.
At a meeting chaired by the Chief Federal Inspector for the Kirov Region, Grigory Zhitenev, during which the prestige of skilled trades and personnel issues at defense industry enterprises were discussed, the general directors of three large Kirov factories talked about their staffing needs. It was noted that in the near future, the three plants — "Avitek," "Lepse," and "Kirovsky Zavod 'Mayak'" — will require an additional more than 1,300 workers: turners, milling machine operators, grinders, machine adjusters, assemblers, regulators, and engineering-technical specialists.
Ruslan Bondaryuk, head of the State Employment Service, pointed out that currently, the staffing needs at all defense enterprises in the region amount to 2,500 people. "The employment service prioritizes offering vacancies at factories fulfilling the state defense order to those seeking employment. Over the past three years, 6,600 referrals have been issued to such enterprises," Bondaryuk reported.
To improve the staffing situation, work on professional training and additional vocational education for defense industry workers continues using federal budget funds. Over two years, nearly 2,000 workers have undergone training. Additionally, employment of teenagers aged 14 to 18 in their free time from studies continues at defense enterprises. According to the regional government, 777 people have been employed over three years.
