There is a severe shortage of doctors in the Kirov region.

A severe staffing shortage persists in the healthcare sector of the Kirov region. There are only 0.5 active resumes from applicants per medical vacancy. The situation is only worse in the Perm Krai, where this indicator is 0.4.

In 2025, 80% of medical organizations across the country are experiencing difficulties in recruiting doctors, nurses, and other specialists. Most of them note that it has become significantly harder to find employees compared to last year.

The greatest shortage is among mid-level medical staff: paramedics, nurses, and orderlies. It is also challenging to find doctors of the highest category and administrative personnel. Employers report that medical workers often switch to other fields — including IT or retail, where incomes are higher and workloads are lower.

The main reasons for staff turnover are unsatisfactory working conditions, a lack of qualified specialists, and professional burnout. Solutions include increasing salaries, providing additional benefits, and creating a more comfortable working environment.

Some medical organizations, in response to the staffing shortage, have already begun to change their policies: raising wages, strengthening ties with specialized universities, forming a personnel reserve, opening training centers, and expanding social packages. Some institutions assist specialists with relocation to the region and offer rotational or shift-based employment.
