Oleg Valenchuk: the memory of heroes is carefully preserved on Vyatka land
June 22 is a date burned into the memory of Russians. The day when the Great Patriotic War began, which claimed the lives of tens of millions of Soviet citizens and changed the course of history. In Kirov, as in the whole country, heroes are remembered on this day – those who forged a Great Victory in the rear and at the front.
At 4 a.m., when dawn was just beginning to break over the city, 50 young patriots from the primary branch of the Movement of the First DDT "Inspiration", together with parents and teachers, representatives of the border troops and the search party "Torch", took part in the action "Dawn of Memory". It became a symbolic beginning of the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, emphasizing the continuous connection of generations and the importance of preserving historical memory.
Then the participants of the action laid flowers at the monument of our outstanding countryman Marshal I.S. Konev. At 11 o'clock, the young guides of the "Heirs of Victory", their parents and veterans of the Leninsky district of Kirov gathered here. The minute of silence – deep and poignant – became a tribute of respect and gratitude to our ancestors who defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland. But perhaps the most touching moment was the transfer of the soldier's death medallion to the great-granddaughter of Ivan Gavrilovich Gorinov, a native of the Kirov region. Ivan Gavrilovich went missing in the spring of 1942. His remains were found only in August 2018 by the Memory search team in the Valdai district of the Novgorod region and reburied on May 8, 2019 in the village of Yazvishchi. Mikhail Yuryevich Poroshin, commander of the Fakel search team, personally handed Regina Gorinova not only a medallion with a note from her great-grandfather, but also an album reflecting the soldier's military path, as well as his photograph. This gesture became a symbol of family reunification, torn apart by the war, and a clear confirmation of the importance of the work of the search teams in preserving the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
Oleg Valenchuk, the initiator of the creation of the Marshal Konev Museum in Kirov, awarded Mikhail Poroshin with a Letter of Thanks from a State Duma deputy for his great work on patriotic education of the younger generation.
– The memory of heroes is carefully preserved on Vyatka land. And the Day of Remembrance and Mourning is not just a date on the calendar, but a living memory passed down from generation to generation," Oleg Valenchuk noted. – Many thanks to the search engines who are reconstructing the events of those terrible days bit by bit. It is precisely such initiatives that help preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War and raise our children to be true patriots of their country.
