It became known what Kirov residents are dying from.

In 2023, 20,289 deaths were registered in the Kirov region, which is 9.1% less than in 2022. Despite the positive dynamics, the mortality rate in the region remains higher than the national average: 18.2 cases per 1,000 people compared to 13.6 in the country.

According to the Kirovstat report "A brief description of the socio-economic situation of the Kirov region", Kirov residents die most of all from diseases of the circulatory system — they accounted for 37.2% of all deaths. Neoplasms, including oncological diseases, are in second place (14.1%), and external causes are in third.: injuries, poisoning, road accidents, etc. (10.4%).

There has also been a decrease in deaths from infectious and parasitic diseases, including COVID-19. If in 2022 this category occupied a prominent place in statistics, then in 2023 the number of such deaths decreased by almost half.

Experts emphasize that the mortality structure in the Kirov region is typical for most regions of Russia, but high rates of heart and vascular diseases remain an alarming signal. This may be related to both the lifestyle of the population and the level of access to medical care.

A full report on the socio-economic situation in the region is posted on the official website of Kirovstat.
