On the night of June 1, a railway bridge collapsed in the Kursk region near the Ostapovo — Mikhailovsky Mine section. A freight train was passing over the bridge at the time of the incident. As a result of the crash, three people were injured — the driver and two of his assistants. All of them suffered moderate injuries.
The derailed locomotive and three wagons fell from the bridge directly onto the highway located under it. According to Alexander Khinshtein, the acting governor of the Kursk region, a fire started, which was promptly localized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Traffic on the road under the bridge is blocked, operational services are working on the spot. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the incident was the undermining of the pillars — unknown people could have planted two explosive devices, one of which went off at about 2:30 a.m. The explosion damaged the support and the railway track, causing the collapse of the structure. The fire area was 15 square meters, according to "Газета.ги ".
The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office is monitoring the progress of the restoration work. The prosecutor of the Kursk region, Yulia Smotrova, went to the scene of the incident.
Recall that on the eve of a similar explosion of the bridge occurred in the Bryansk region. There, at the time of the collapse, a passenger train with 388 passengers on board was under the overpass.
