The deputy head of the Uprdor "Prikamye" told Newsler.ru about the condition of the bridge over the Moloma

Today, on May 22, Sergey Krasilnikov, Deputy head of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Upd Prikamye, arrived in Kirov to personally check the progress of work carried out on the cracked bridge over the Moloma. Before going to the place, Sergey Ivanovich personally talked with a journalist. Newsler.ru and he told me about the bridge situation. As Krasilnikov noted, the breaking of the bridge over the Moloma would not have happened if the company that transported heavy and oversized cargo had issued the appropriate permit, as required by the established rules. "They should warn and set routes when they are carrying heavy or oversized cargo. Issue the appropriate permit, prescribe the route and the bridges that will be used. Specify the weight, dimensions, and pay the appropriate fee. If the cargo exceeds all permissible dimensions, especially in terms of weight, then a number of measures must be carried out before the trip. In particular, to strengthen bridges. They did not do this, did not issue the appropriate permit and went, as they say, at random. All this led to what happened to the bridge," Krasilnikov said.

According to the deputy head of the FCU Updor "Prikamye", now the workers have raised the span of the bridge to the design position. "But it stands on jacks and on a safety cage so that we can carry out work with metal beams. Since all this is not where it should be, on a support, traffic on the bridge is prohibited," said Sergey Krasilnikov.

Sergey Ivanovich confirmed that traffic on the Moloma Bridge is planned to open by the end of May, as previously announced. Traffic will be open with the same load capacity that was installed for this bridge before: a maximum weight of 25 tons and an 11-ton axle load. "We do not plan to postpone the deadlines. On the contrary, we aim to open traffic by the end of May. There will be reverse movement on the bridge," Krasilnikov said. According to him, the bridge has now been jacked up to its design position, which made it possible to hang the deformed beams into the air, cut out the damaged metal there and install new beams. "Welders are currently working there. It's a long and responsible job: you can't do everything in a hurry," Krasilnikov said.

As explained by the deputy head of the FCU Updor "Prikamye", in 2022, when the bridge cracked for the first time, emergency repair work was carried out on it. "Emergency recovery work is also underway, but the damage is much more serious than it was before," he said. The overhaul will take several years to complete

As for the overhaul of the Moloma Bridge, it is not worth waiting for it in the very near future. "Now we have been allocated money for the development of design estimates. In the near future, the contractor who will be engaged in the design will be identified. It will take us a year and a half to develop the design documentation, the cost of the bridge will be determined, after which we will request financing for major repairs," said Sergey Ivanovich.

According to the deputy head of the Department of Internal Affairs "Prikamye", the road will not be blocked during the overhaul of the bridge, as it is being done now. "The bypass option will be determined by the project: the contractor will develop several options. Either it will be a pontoon bridge, or a temporary bypass bridge, or the existing bridge will become temporary, and a new one will be built nearby — there are various options. Which one of them will be more economically beneficial, we will consider," Krasilnikov said.
