Roskomnadzor denied blocking "Harry Potter"
Earlier, the Parliamentary Newspaper reported that from the fall of 2025, the Ministry of Culture will not issue rental certificates to films that contain propaganda of the Childfree ideology. The corresponding amendment to the departmental order was made by the Ministry of Culture. Scientific and medical information will not be blocked if it does not violate the specified criteria. However, popular foreign TV series in which the characters adhere to a childless lifestyle are likely to disappear from digital platforms and online cinemas. Among the possible contenders for removal are "House of Cards" (18+), "Sex and the City" (16+), "Game of Thrones" (18+) and even "Harry Potter" (16+).
However, Roskomnadzor later denied this information, stating that "the conclusions about the presence of childfree propaganda in the films mentioned in the media are groundless."
According to Interfax, with reference to the press service of the department, "the current criteria for evaluating materials containing childfree propaganda clearly define what belongs to it." In particular, it is information aimed at convincing the rejection of childbearing, justifying childlessness, extolling it over the birth of children, as well as forming a negative image of a parent and a positive attitude towards life without children.
