Department of vascular surgery in Kirov entered the top 20 of the best in the country

      The Department of Vascular Surgery of the Kirov Regional Clinical Hospital has entered the top 20 best specialized departments in Russia. The rating was compiled by the journal Angiology and Vascular Surgery. In terms of arterial reconstructions, the Kirov Region is among the top ten leaders along with the largest federal medical centers.

      In 2024, the department treated about 1,500 patients, performed over 1,600 operations, half of which were reconstructive interventions on the arteries. The number of complex carotid artery surgeries aimed at reducing the risk of stroke increased by 18%. The volume of all surgical care increased by 8%.

      According to the department's management, against the background of increased workload, there is a decrease in postoperative complications. Doctors continue to introduce methods of endovascular and hybrid interventions, including for severe blood supply disorders of the lower extremities. This avoids amputations, which until recently were the standard solution.

      In addition to routine work, surgeons provide emergency care: in 2024, they traveled 59 times through sanitation to areas of the Kirov region, where they performed 52 urgent operations. The specialists also conducted 260 telemedicine consultations, of which 67 were for emergency indications.

      The department employs seven doctors, six of whom have the highest qualification category. Some of them perform both open and minimally invasive vascular surgeries, which makes the department one of the most technically equipped in the region.
