A special shrine will be brought to Kirov
With the blessing of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, on April 6 of this year, the ark with the relics of St. Tikhon began to be brought from the Donskoy Monastery in Moscow, the Vyatka Diocese reported. The special shrine will visit at least 90 cities of Russia and Belarus, and will return to the Donskoy Monastery on October 9.
The ark with the relics of St. Tikhon will arrive in Vyatka in early June. On June 1 and 2, the ark will be located in the Assumption Cathedral in Kirov.
On Sunday, June 1, at 7 a.m., an Early Liturgy will be held at the Assumption Cathedral, and at 9 a.m. a meeting of the shrine will be held in the Holy Chambers of the Holy Dormition Trifonov Monastery. Prayer service with the Akathist of St. Peter. Tikhon will be held at the Assumption Cathedral at 11:00.
The next day, on June 2, prayer services with the akathist of St. Peter the Great. Tikhon will be held in the Assumption Cathedral from 9-30 to 16-30. An evening divine service will be held at the Assumption Cathedral at 17:00, and at 18:00 the ark with the relics of St. Tikhon will leave the Vyatka Metropolitanate.
The Vyatka Diocese reported that Patriarch Tikhon became the eleventh patriarch elected at the Local Council of the Orthodox Russian Church in 1917-18. The enthronement took place on November 21 in the Patriarchal Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. Remaining on the Patriarchal throne until his death on April 7, 1925, His Holiness Patriarch Tikhon was repeatedly subjected to criminal prosecution, arrests and assassination attempts.
On the initiative of St. Tikhon, it was established to celebrate the feast to All the Saints who had shone forth in the lands of Russia.
