The scammers began pretending to be Rosreestr employees
The Office of the Federal Register for the Kirov region warns Kirov residents about a new scheme that scammers have begun to use. "One of the latest schemes that we learned about after a call from a vigilant citizen. He received a call allegedly from an employee of Rosreestr with a request to provide INN, SNILS or other personal information under the pretext of "updating data in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities," the department said.
The Kirov resident showed vigilance, dropped the call and independently called the Office of the Federal Register for the Kirov region at the phone number listed on the official website. The real experts of the department said that they never request such information over the phone.
"If they call you and persistently demand to name your SNILS, which, we remind you, is used as a login to enter Public Services, or other personal information about you, and then they ask for a "confirmation code from SMS" – these are scammers. Having received such data, they can use it to access your personal account in Public Services, which threatens to steal personal data, financial fraud, and even issue loans in your name," the Federal Register noted.
