Head against the wall: Kirov resident received 8 years of "strogach" for the murder of a drinking companion

      On the evening of December 30, 2023, a 37-year-old Kirov resident and his friend had a conflict during a drinking party. At that time, they were in an apartment at 153 Oktyabrsky Prospekt. The first of the men began hitting the guest on the head, and then hit his friend's head against the wall, thereby causing bodily injuries that caused serious harm to the health and death of the latter.

      A criminal case was opened against a 37-year-old resident of Kirov. He was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of serious harm to health, resulting in the death of the victim by negligence). The court agreed with the prosecutor's opinion and imposed a sentence of 8 years in prison.

      The defendant and his lawyer appealed the verdict to the court of appeal, but their complaints were rejected. The verdict remained in force. The man will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony, where he will be escorted.
