Fraudsters tricked a 9-year-old girl into accessing an online bank and stole 439,000 rubles.
A 38-year-old local resident contacted the inter-municipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Slobodskoy". The woman reported that 439 thousand rubles had disappeared from her bank account. As the police established, Internet scammers were involved in the theft, who misled her 9-year-old daughter.
The child used the Telegram messenger and was subscribed to a blogger who published content on a popular online multiplayer game. One day, on behalf of this blogger, the girl received a personal message offering to help her get in-game currency. At the same time, in order to receive a "gift", it was necessary to perform a number of actions.
Following the instructions from the correspondence, the girl sent photos of her mother's bank card, transmitted codes from bank SMS messages, and then — from her mother's phone — logged into the bank's mobile application and scanned several QR codes. After that, the attacker demanded to delete the correspondence. The girl did not realize that she was involved in fraud.
The woman noticed the loss of money in the evening and contacted the police. A criminal case has been opened into the theft, and the suspects are being identified.
The police remind you: do not leave children unattended on the Internet and regularly discuss online safety rules with them. Do not trust strangers, do not give them bank card information and SMS codes. It is especially important to explain this to children who may not realize the consequences of their actions.
