In Kirov, a verdict has entered into force against a 47-year-old local resident found guilty of violating traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person. The Prosecutor's office of the Leninsky district of the city supported the state prosecution in a criminal case initiated under paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As the court found, on the evening of May 22, 2024, the accused, who had previously been deprived of his driver's license, was driving a Lada Samara car while intoxicated. Moving in reverse along Sportivnaya Street, in the area of house No. 1A on Molodezhny Passage, he ran over a female pedestrian. The 55-year-old victim died on the spot from his injuries.
The court sentenced the perpetrator to 7 years of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony. He is also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of two years and six months. In addition, according to the court's decision, the man is obliged to pay the spouse of the deceased compensation for moral damage in the amount of more than 1.4 million rubles.
The defendant and his defense tried to appeal the verdict, citing the lack of proof of guilt. However, the court of appeal upheld the court's decision.
