Russia may set a limit on issuing bank cards
Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov proposed to legislate a limit on the issue of bank cards and regulate the activities of realtors through which fraudsters quickly sell apartments of victims, RBC reports. Igor Krasnov, making his annual report to the Federation Council, noted that the Prosecutor General's Office had sent similar proposals to the Security Council. The Prosecutor General also asked for the support of the senators in this matter.
As Krasnov noted in his speech, despite the general downward trend in the number of reported crimes, there has been an increase in remote fraud. "They already account for 40% of all registered crimes," Krasnov said.
The Prosecutor General added that the limit is necessary, among other things, to combat so-called droppers who use their cards to cash out stolen money. To date, 9,5 thousand lawsuits have been filed against droppers for a total of 1,7 billion rubles.
