      In the summer, work began in Yaransk as part of the federal program "Creating a comfortable urban environment." For 3 million rubles, the contractor had to repair the monument "Winners", equip pedestrian paths and make lighting in Victory Park. The work was supposed to be completed by August, however, the contractor missed the deadline. The workers were last seen at the site in October.

      The paving stones near the monument went in waves, and there are also sinkholes. The new lanterns are not lit, and the poles are tilted and wobbly. People are worried that metal structures will fall on someone in strong winds. In addition, the tiles of the staircase were knocked out and construction debris was scattered. There are scaffolding on the level of the statues of the warrior girl and the soldier, and the new inscription on the pedestal is unreadable.

      Local residents have repeatedly contacted the customer of the work — the administration of the Yaransk settlement. They are told that claims work is underway, but the completion dates are not specified.

On May 9, residents of Yaransk gather in this place to lay flowers and honor the memory of the heroes. This tradition has been going on since 1967, when this monument was erected. As a result, desperate people turned to the Popular Front for help.

      According to Valeria Cheremisinova, head of the Kirov branch of the Popular Front, the regional government promised that employees of the regional Competence Center responsible for the implementation of the federal program would go to the site. If violations are found, the contractor will be forced to perform the work under warranty. Public figures do not understand why, after 5 months of downtime and with claims work, the Competence Center still needs evidence of violations. "It is even more unclear how they are going to force a contractor who has already escaped from the facility to work. All this is very little time left before the Victory anniversary," Cheremisinova says. The ONF sent an appeal to the prosecutor's office.
