Kirov resident lost more than 2 million rubles, deciding to make money on cryptocurrency

A 30-year-old resident of Kirov contacted the police with a statement about major fraud. The man said that at the end of January he met a girl on the Internet who offered a profitable way to make money trading cryptocurrency.

Soon, a "cryptocurrency specialist" contacted Kirov, who, under the pretext of helping with investments, convinced him to register on a crypto exchange and replenish a "checking" account by transferring money using the specified banking details. Following the instructions of the "specialist", the man carried out transactions on the stock exchange, and an amount of 6 million rubles allegedly accumulated in his account.

However, when the Kirov resident tried to withdraw the "earned" funds, he was informed that the money was "stuck" between the accounts, it was impossible to withdraw them. Then the man realized that he had become a victim of fraud. The total amount of damage amounted to 2.2 million rubles.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale). The police are searching for suspects.

Due to the increased frequency of online fraud, law enforcement agencies urge citizens to be vigilant and not trust strangers who promise quick and easy earnings on the Internet. It should be remembered that investments in cryptocurrencies and other financial instruments require special knowledge and involve the risk of losing invested funds. Never transfer money to strangers and carefully check the information before making any financial transactions online.
