The tenant of the forest will pay more than 650 thousand for illegal logging in the Opara district

      The Kirov Regional Court upheld the decision of the court of first instance to recover from LLC "V", a tenant of a forest plot in the Oparinsky district, compensation for damage in the amount of more than 650 thousand rubles. The damage was caused to the forest fund of the Russian Federation as a result of illegal felling of trees, which occurred due to insufficient control by the tenant.

      The Opara district Prosecutor's Office conducted an inspection in connection with information received about illegal logging. During the inspection, it turned out that LLC "V", being the tenant of the site, did not ensure proper control over the wood harvesting process, which led to a significant amount of logging and damage.

      Based on the materials of the criminal case initiated under Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the prosecutor sent a statement of claim to the court to recover compensation from LLC "B" for the damage caused. The court of first instance granted the claim, recognizing the demands of the prosecutor's office as legitimate and justified.

      LLC "V" appealed the court's decision, but the Judicial Board for Civil Cases of the Kirov Regional Court recognized the decision of the first instance as justified and rejected the defendant's appeal.

      The Prosecutor's office of the Kirov region stressed that the region is closely monitoring the implementation of legislation in the forestry industry, especially in the context of decriminalization issues.
