
The State Duma approved fines for selling energy drinks to children
In the first reading, State Duma deputies adopted a bill providing for the establishment of administrative responsibility for the retail sale of energy products to minors. As reported on the website of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the amount of the fine for citizens will range from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, for officials — from 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles, for legal entities — from 300 thousand to 500 thousand rubles.
Earlier, the State Duma imposed a ban on the sale of energy drinks to children across the country. The ban came into force on March 1, 2025.
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the harm of energy drinks has been proven by doctors. Energy drinks increase the risk of hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and other diseases. Volodin also noted that every second person among young people consumes energy.
