Scammers tricked a resident of Kirov out of 3 million rubles.
A 22-year-old resident of Kirov became a victim of fraudsters and lost 3 million rubles. First, an unknown person called him, introducing himself as an employee of a mobile operator, and then the conversation was continued by fake employees of the State Services technical support.
The first interlocutor informed the Kirov resident that the term of his contract with the mobile operator was allegedly coming to an end and needed to be extended. To issue a new contract, the young man was sent a code, which he dictated to the caller.
After that, the Kirov resident received a call supposedly from the State Services technical support. He was told that his personal account on the portal had been hacked, and the fraudsters could take out loans in his name. To prevent this from happening, the young man was offered to urgently transfer all his savings to a "safe account," promising to return the money later.
The Kirov resident followed the instructions and transferred 3 million rubles to the specified accounts. After that, he tried to find out when he would be able to get his money back, but the interlocutors stopped responding and deleted the correspondence.
Then the young man realized he had been deceived and contacted the police. An investigation revealed that there were no signs of hacking of his personal account on the State Services.
A criminal case has been initiated for large-scale fraud. The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
Law enforcement reminds: real employees of mobile operators and State Services do not require transferring money to "safe accounts." If such calls are received, it is recommended to end the conversation and independently verify the information through official sources.
