The truck cabin crushed the driver in Verkhoshizhemye.

      During repair work, the driver was engaged in removing the cabin of a truck. While lowering it with a crane beam, the worker was caught between the cabin and the wheel. The man sustained multiple rib fractures with lung damage and complications. The injuries were classified as severe.

      An investigation by the State Labor Inspectorate revealed that the work was carried out with numerous violations. In particular, the employee was allowed to remove the cabin without the necessary qualification as a rigger.

      Furthermore, a crane beam that had previously been decommissioned was used for the work. The employer did not take measures to prevent its accidental activation. There was also a lack of oversight from the responsible supervisor regarding the safe conduct of the work.

      Certain violations concerned employee training. The safety training was conducted by the employer, who himself had not undergone the mandatory training and knowledge assessment. Therefore, he had no right to conduct such training.

      In addition, the worker was not provided with the necessary lifting equipment for the safe removal and installation of the cabin.

      Deputy Head of the State Labor Inspectorate Alexey Loginov noted that the incident exemplified the consequences of neglecting basic safety requirements. As a result of the investigation, the employer was issued a directive to rectify the identified violations.
