According to the fishermen, the pipe has been discharged into the river near the village of Starostiny, between Starostiny Street and the beginning of the Shestaki cemetery. According to them, the discharges used to flow as well, but were colorless and odorless. Now, however, the liquid has become dark and foul-smelling.
Local residents suspect that the source is the wastewater treatment facilities of Kotelnich, located about 500 meters upstream. There are no other enterprises nearby.
The residents of Kotelnich are concerned about the state of the river — in the summer, people swim and fish here. Public activists have sent the information to Rosprirodnadzor. Agency employees have already gone to the site and confirmed that the discharge is indeed coming from the treatment facilities. Specialists have taken samples for laboratory research. Further decisions will be made based on the results of the analyses.
