In the Kirov region, 756 thousand hectares have been sown.
The sowing campaign in the region began back in April. According to Kirovstat, the total area of agricultural crop sowings in farms of all categories amounted to 756 thousand hectares, Kirovstat reported. Traditionally, the largest areas were allocated for forage crops — 456 thousand hectares. They are used for the production of hay, silage, haylage, and other feeds for agricultural animals.
Cereal and leguminous crops occupied 270 thousand hectares this year. The main crops were barley and wheat — they account for 41% and 30% respectively. Rye occupies another 12%, oats 11%, and leguminous crops 5%.
Technical crops were sown on 20.5 thousand hectares. Almost half of this area was taken up by rapeseed — about 10 thousand hectares were allocated for it. Another 7.5 thousand hectares were occupied by curly flax.
Potatoes in the region were planted on 7.6 thousand hectares, and open-field vegetables on 1.8 thousand hectares.
The majority of the areas for cereals, leguminous, technical, and forage crops belong to agricultural organizations. Next are peasant (farm) households and individual entrepreneurs.
In the Kirov region, on the contrary, potatoes and vegetables are mainly grown in household plots.
