The owner of the plot in Sandalovka was unable to contest the water protection zone.

      The Kirov City First May District Court considered the claim of the owner of a land plot located in the protective coastal strip of the Sandalovka River. The owner attempted to challenge the boundaries of the water protection zone established in 2022 in accordance with the requirements of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. The court recognized them as justified and upheld them.

      The water protection zone is an area along the shore where special rules apply to prevent pollution of rivers, preserve their natural state, and protect fish habitats. The size of the zone depends on the length of the water body: for rivers up to 10 kilometers long — 50 meters, from 10 to 50 kilometers — 100 meters, and over 50 kilometers — 200 meters.

      Part of the water protection zone is occupied by the protective coastal strip, where additional restrictions apply. In particular, plowing of land, grazing of livestock, discharge of wastewater, placement of landfills, cemeteries, warehouses for pesticides, and construction of gas stations, car washes, and facilities for storing fuel and lubricants are prohibited here. Movement and parking of vehicles are allowed only on paved roads. These requirements are aimed at protecting water bodies and maintaining water purity.
