A resident of Yury was lured to a "protected" account and stole 249 thousand.

A resident of the Yuryansky district became a victim of scammers who first posed as employees of a mobile operator and then as specialists from "Gosuslugi."

Initially, an unknown person called the man and asked him to provide a code from a message supposedly for extending his service contract. The victim dictated the numbers. After that, another person contacted him, introducing themselves as an employee of "Gosuslugi."

They claimed that with the received code, the scammers were able to access the man's account, obtain his personal data, and could now conduct banking operations in his name.

Believing this story, the man agreed to follow the instructions of the callers to supposedly protect his money. He cashed out his savings and transferred 249,000 rubles to a so-called "protected special account." According to the scammers, after the threat was eliminated, the money was supposed to return to the owner.

However, the man never received the transfer back. Realizing he had been deceived, he contacted the police.

An investigator from the MO Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Yuryansky" initiated a criminal case regarding the fraud. Law enforcement is currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

The police remind that employees of banks, "Gosuslugi," and communication operators do not require you to provide codes from SMS or push notifications, nor to transfer money to "protected" accounts. If you receive such a call, it is better to end the conversation immediately and contact the organization directly using the official number.
