Residents of Kirov have started to leave for Saint Petersburg more often.
In the seven months of 2026, 41,500 passengers traveled by long-distance trains from Kirov to St. Petersburg. Compared to the same period last year, passenger traffic increased by 11%. Kirov and St. Petersburg are connected by seven direct and transit trains.
From January to July 2026, passenger transportation to the northern capital via the Gorky Railway showed growth in several directions.
For instance, nearly 94,000 passengers traveled from Nizhny Novgorod to St. Petersburg — 2.4% more than the previous year. There are also seven direct and transit trains operating between the cities. From Kazan to St. Petersburg, 42,500 people traveled in seven months — about the same as in the corresponding period of 2025. One train operates between the cities. Approximately 18,000 passengers traveled from Izhevsk to the northern capital. Passenger traffic on this route increased by 4.5% year on year.
