In Kirov, a "green wave" has been introduced on three streets.
Since the beginning of 2026, eight new traffic light objects, 1,145 road signs, over a kilometer of pedestrian barriers, and 712 meters of barrier fencing have been installed in Kirov. Approximately 60,000 square meters of road markings have also been applied, and 15 problematic areas have been addressed, reports the press service of the regional government.
The coordinated traffic management mode, referred to as the "green wave," has been introduced at the intersections of Lenin Street - Truda, Lenin - MOPR, and Lenin - Morozovskaya. With this setup, traffic lights operate in sync so that drivers can pass through several intersections in a row without stopping for a red signal.
Adaptive traffic lights are already in operation at the intersection of Oktyabrsky Avenue and Moskovskaya Street. They automatically adjust their operating mode depending on traffic density.
The city is also continuing to change the organization of traffic. To increase capacity, the roadway on Moskovskaya Street is being widened this summer—from Sadakovskaya Street to Stroitely Avenue.
In addition, transport and pedestrian flows have been separated at several intersections, including Maklina - Gorkogo, Surikova - Kalinina, Vladimirska - Molodoy Gvardii, and Lenin - Spasskaya. A conflict-free phase for pedestrians has been introduced at the intersections of Lenin - Orlovskaya and Oktyabrsky Avenue - Komsomolskaya - Melnichnaya.
Work is also ongoing outside of Kirov. Modern lighting continues to be installed in populated areas along regional highways. It has now appeared in 69 settlements. Road sections in the populated areas of Arbazhskiy, Bogorodskoe, Zuevskiy, Kiknurskiy, Kirovo-Chepetskiy, Kumyonskiy, Lebyazhsky, Malmyzhsky, Murashinskiy, Nemskiy, and Nolin regions have been completely updated.
Special attention is being paid to buses. During the summer holidays, state control, the State Traffic Inspectorate, and the regional Ministry of Transport conduct inspections of tourist and school buses. Mandatory briefings are also held for trip organizers.
