A resident of Kirov transferred 12 thousand rubles for sugar, but did not receive the goods.

      The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kirov received a statement from a 37-year-old local resident. The reason for the appeal was an incident that occurred during the purchase of goods on a free classifieds platform.

      As established by the police, the Kirov resident found an online offer for the sale of sugar. After contacting the seller, she agreed to purchase four bags. The total cost of the purchase amounted to 12,000 rubles.

      The woman transferred the money using a QR code sent by the unknown seller. However, the promised goods were not delivered on time. When the buyer tried to clarify the reason for the delay, the seller stopped responding to messages and calls.

      The police have initiated a criminal case under part 2 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed with significant damage to a citizen). An investigation is underway.

      The Ministry of Internal Affairs draws citizens' attention to safety rules for remote purchases: one should not transfer money to strangers without verifying the reliability of the counterparty. There are special sections on classifieds websites with instructions for safe transactions, where the platform acts as an intermediary and helps protect both parties from fraudulent actions.
