Associate Professor of VyatGU trained young parliamentarians of the region in the techniques of public speaking.
The event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Youth Parliament under the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region brought together over a hundred participants, including the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region Roman Beresnev, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region Svetlana Shumailova, the Minister of Youth Policy of the region Alexandra Ploskonosova, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy Alexander Tolmachev, deputies of the Legislative Assembly, current young parliamentarians, members of the Youth Parliament from previous convocations, representatives of the Association of Youth Parliaments of the Volga region from Mari El, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Penza, and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as leaders of youth organizations and participants of the public hearings "Vyatka is us!".
Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region Roman Beresnev, opening the conference, emphasized the significance of the twenty-year journey of the Youth Parliament:
"Over these years, our Youth Parliament has come a long way. We can confidently say that many, having completed their activities here, still remain a team of the region, continuing to develop the Kirov Region already in state and municipal service, leading various departments. Some are actively involved in sports, encouraging youth to lead a healthy lifestyle, while others are creating strong families and showing by their example that family is the foundation of our life, the rear and support, the people who motivate us to grow and develop." The main focus of the discussion was directed at youth parliamentarism as an opportunity for development and participation in the life of the region and the country, the implementation of socially significant projects and initiatives, as well as the challenges faced by young parliamentarians in their activities.
As part of the conference, an educational platform was organized. In the section "Young Politician: The Path to Trust and Support," the speaker was Alexey Kalinin, a candidate of philological sciences and associate professor of the Department of Russian Language, Speech Culture, and Teaching Methods at VyatSU. He shared valuable knowledge with young people about methods and techniques of public speaking, the art of oratory, and how to persuade the audience with their speech.
"The speaker's performance is largely unpredictable. You will never know what you will be asked and whether you can answer 100% correctly, but the main thing is to always be ready for any situation," noted Alexey Anatolyevich. Young parliamentarians delved into the study of factors for successful speech impact, communicative norms, the non-verbal component of public speaking, and the main genres of oratory. Alexey Kalinin paid special attention to persuasive speaking, discussing its types and effective techniques:
"A speech is a stage of acting, theatrical delivery of a speech. We influence not only through speech but also through our behavior, gaze, movements, facial expressions, and gestures."
At the end of the section's work, Alexey Anatolyevich was presented with a letter of gratitude from the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region for his assistance in organizing and conducting the conference.
