Did the gasoline crisis not affect public transport?
According to the official responses from Kirov Passenger Auto Transport JSC (KPAT) and Auto Transport Enterprise JSC (ATP), the entire reason lies in the structure of the fuel fleet. KPAT explained that all the company's buses operate on diesel and gas fuel. Gasoline is not used for them. ATP clarified that the fleet consists of 90% gas-powered buses and 10% diesel-powered ones.
As reported by M.V. Medvedev, the deputy general director for the bus fleet, there are no interruptions in the supply of diesel fuel, and the absence of gasoline at gas stations does not affect the operation of buses on the routes.
The Ministry of Transport of the Kirov Region also confirms that public transport predominantly uses buses running on diesel fuel, the reserves of which in the region are stable. According to the agency, gasoline supplies to the region are increasing — Lukoil supplies 520 tons per day.
The number of gas buses, according to KPAT, is 150 units. Across the entire Kirov Region, according to the Ministry of Transport's information as of June 1, 2026, there are 329 such vehicles.
In case of a possible fuel shortage, contracts have been signed with fuel companies, which has been confirmed by both KPAT and ATP.
The most important question for passengers: has the number of buses on routes decreased? KPAT assured that the number of buses on routes has not decreased. The regional Ministry of Transport also emphasized that there has been no information about the suspension or non-operation of vehicles on routes received by the agency.
